In conjunction with the Grand Prize Rafflecopter,
I am giving away an eBook copy of Hunted,
Book 1 of The Gates Legacy series.
Deep in the heart of New York City’s netherworld, a horrible disease is ravaging the vampire community. The Vampire Council is on a crusade to obliterate those infected, and Harrow Gates is target Number One. The unwitting source of the plague, he suffers from the same nightmarish symptoms as his victims. The world he’d been thrust into was cold, cruel, and intent on eradicating him, and the legions of afflicted vampires he created with his bite.
A bounty hanging over his head, satisfying his hunger has become an enormous challenge for Harrow. The less he feeds, the more hideous and painful his lesions become. Constantly running for his life and learning new tricks to survive, Harrow is in no position to refuse when Pritchard Tack offers him a unique opportunity.
Pritchard not only gives Harrow a new beginning, but also a purpose and a chance to rectify the chaos he created in the vampire world. However, the multi-billionaire has an agenda of his own.
Jordan is a reluctant new vampire and a woman on a mission. After the demise of her family and her own transformation at the hands of Goran, the ruthless leader of the Vampire Council, her only focus is revenge. Constantly faced with one frustrating dead-end after another, a stroke of luck leads her to an underground facility that she suspects is the lair of the monster for whom she is looking.
Upon learning more about the truth behind the secret bunker, Jordan must fight against her growing feelings of friendship and concern for the facility’s inhabitants. One man in particular threatens to pull her heart away from her sworn mission. There is something behind Harrow’s dark lenses that unsettles the hardened female. Once again, she trembles and hungers for something other than red-stained revenge. Is love strong enough to override her hate-fueled thirst for vengeance?
“Stop your madness, Jordan. You’re going to get yourself killed,” Harrow demanded, feeling his anger surfacing at the ludicrousness of the situation.
“You learned fast, and now you can gloat while you finish me off!” Jordan roared.
“You think I would do that?” Harrow answered back.
“Why not? I expect you to want to prove your point.”
“I have nothing to prove to you.”
That much was true. He wanted to protect her, but she wasn’t seeing it that way. Jordan was too stubborn for her own good. If there was anything he wanted to show her, it was how much he desired her, how he wanted her in his arms and not flat on her back with a weapon staring down at her.
“Then fight me. Show me what you’re made of,” she taunted.
Harrow tossed all the Kalimetal on the ground and faced her. Bare hands, he could do.
Jordan snarled in anger and threw a punch to his face, which Harrow blocked. He shifted his weight onto one leg, wrenched her arm, and twisted her around. He pinned her arm behind her, while one arm slinked around her neck and drew her body closer. He could feel the contours of her body straining against him, but his firm hold disabled her movements. He moved his mouth to her neck, breathing against her skin.
This was an opportunity of a lifetime. To sink his teeth into her exposed jugular had be the most erotic exchange there was between vampires.
But it wasn’t right. He’d infect her, and that was the last thing he wanted to do. Nevertheless, her bare neck teased him, inviting him. Jordan squirmed against his touch. Her grunts encouraged him to show her how he felt.
With tremendous effort, Harrow willed himself not to succumb to his nature. Instead, he grazed her neck with his mouth, enjoying her flowery scent without hurrying. He sniffed as much as he could before he kissed her neck and hurled her to the ground. His mind reeled and his body jerked, rebelling against his decision not to take her. There was nothing he’d rather do, but it wasn’t right. Not like that—not against her will.
