With every curse comes a blessing…
All Brian Morrison wants is to be an ordinary teenager with normal teenage problems, but his uncontrollable twitching and phonic tics make that impossible. The butt of jokes in school, he is nothing but a laughing-stock until a visit to a local tarot shop turns his life upside-down.
The psychic’s strange prediction thrusts him into a mysterious world of ghastly creatures and bizarre events, and he must come to terms with the abrupt changes if he is going to survive. One mother’s plea for help presents him with an impossible challenge, but it also brings him closer to the most popular girl in school. Brian must overcome threats from all sides to honor his promise, and he is determined to succeed. His heart won’t let him turn his back on someone in need, especially when he’s fallen in love with her.
Protecting Shannon McKesson soon becomes the greatest purpose of his life. Brian discovers many things on this new journey, but the biggest one might be the truth about who he is. If only he and Shannon can stay alive long enough to unlock the mystery.
We walked toward the building together. The corridor was filled with loitering students, waiting for the bell to ring. When we got to our photography class, we both sat in the back of the room.
“Should we schedule something this weekend?” Shannon asked.
“Schedule what?” I had no clue what she was talking about.
“Our photo session.” She showed a hint of a smile.
I remembered now. She wanted me to pose for her. Eager to please, I nodded, even if I hated the whole idea. “Where do you want to do it?”
She thought for a moment. “I want a nice background.”
How about my bedroom? I wanted to say, but that wouldn’t go over well, so I tried to come up with something else. “Um . . . you want nature as the background?”
“Yeah.”
“What about the Huntington Library? They have pretty flowers and plants there.” I couldn’t believe I was talking about this stuff with a girl. I’d come a long way.
Her eyes lit up. “Oh yes! That’ll be perfect. I want to see the Corpse Flower.”
Great! She’d be taking my picture next to the Amorphophallus titanium, an unattractive plant that smelled like . . . well, it lived up to its name. What a way to boost my ego. I tried to smile anyway.

~~EXCERPT~~
It was when he brushed his hand down her cheek that she felt his tenderness firsthand. It was a slow caress she hadn’t expected from a man with so much strength in him. Isidora leaned into his touch.
“I know you won’t.” She closed her eyes. If this was as far as he’d allow himself to go, it was enough for her.
“Issy, you have no idea what your offer is doing to me.” Cyrus’ breathing grew ragged.
“What am I doing to you?” She opened her eyes just in time to see the hunger etched in his face, his fangs elongating until they were punching his lower lip.
“You make me want to rip off your clothes. Stop teasing a hungry dog with a big bone.”
In this quiet moment, Cyrus was all she wanted. The air grew electric, and the magnetism between them was undeniable, so strong she could touch it. Her gaze slid down to the massive tenting in his pants and couldn’t deny her own hunger.
“You’re going to kiss me.”
“Damn right I will.” He closed the small gap and crushed his mouth against hers, his kiss hard and filled with urgency.
Issy rode the tide, tasting, stroking, and feeling the jolt of life from his lips. She pressed her body closer, but he ended the kiss abruptly. Way too soon.
“You better run, little girl.” He turned away.
“I’m not going to run. Take what is freely given to you.” She touched his shoulder, caressing the taut muscle.

However, an unknown enemy is manipulating events, killing humans and vampires alike, and exposing their secrets to the human world.
This is bad news for new vampire Cyrus and his band of fighters at Tack Enterprises. Events derail his plans to find Zane, the sadistic vampire who tortured Cyrus and forced immortality on him. Armed with hatred deep in his bones, all Cyrus cares about is getting even, and Zane has it coming. Cyrus soon finds himself torn between the crippling desire for revenge and his responsibility to his friends. When he begins to spend time in the company of the beautiful and pureblooded vampire, Isidora, her presence in his life makes him rethink his priorities.

~~EXCERPT~~
With Isidora in his arms, Cyrus found comfort from the torture of his nightmares and his past. The warmth of her touch and the sweetness of her kisses made him think of nothing but the present and the desire he had long denied.
Cyrus had no idea how to take things between them. He had given her rough sex because he had been a jealous ass. If he’d been thinking clearly, he wouldn’t have done it. Yet he had given in to the intense need to possess her. Maybe, if he took things slow and started from the beginning, he could make do with the little kisses and touching. However, the tenting inside his pants was a cause for concern. It didn’t take long for her to notice.
Issy broke their kiss and smiled up at him. She had that gleam in her eyes, the kind that told him she knew what he was thinking. He rotated his hips, trying to create room between their bodies, but she refused to let him go.
“This is a good time to see if we can work things out.”
“Damn it,” Cyrus muttered. Was he ready? The answer was out of his hands. With the massive wood he was sporting, even a long dip in an icebox wouldn’t chill him out. His body needed Issy, and there was no doubt she wanted him, too.
“Cy, you can take charge of everything. We’ll go at your pace and on your terms. I’m here to enjoy the ride.”
This made him smile. “Even if the ride is bumpy?”
“As long as I’m with you.” She tightened her arms around his waist. “I don’t care how rough, how easy—just take me with you.”
~~Interview with Cyrus~~
Tell me how it feels to be part of Tack Enterprises?
It feels good, we are a family. They took me in when I was a human and had no one who depended on me for daily life and taught me to be a fighter and a man. It was an unfortunate turn of events when I became one of the vampires, but I am adjusting. We all miss our first leader, his heart was in it for the right reasons and he lost his life for that fight, but his legacy lives on in all of us. I think that is what I am most proud of; I entered Tack Enterprises as a lost boy and have become a fighting man with morals, family and the love of my life. Not to mention, I now have my sister with me as well—life is good.
Now that the cure for the Incomis Sippanus disease has been found, was it worth all you have went through to help the cause?
The old Cyrus would say fuck no, nothing was worth what I went through but the Cyrus that stands before you today would have to say yes it was worth it. Harrow was infected with it as well as thousands more vampires. If you could spend an afternoon with Harrow and Jordan, you would know it was worth every drop of blood that has been shed to give them a happily ever after. Don’t get me wrong, I am still pissed as hell that I am now among the vampire population thanks to that douche canoe Zane, but it did give me more open doors to be with Isidora and I am adjusting, slowly.
So, Zane was the one who caused you to become a vampire. We know that you were angry at him in the beginning and focused on killing him. Now that some time has passed, what are your feelings about Zane now?
Make no mistake about this, I will always hate that fucker and I wouldn’t think twice about killing him if the chance came, but I have to focus on other things right now, such as how he can give us the information we need and I am expected to work with him. I also have two ladies in my life right now that I have to protect and be there for as well as a son. I will never live a day in my life that the thought of killing him won’t make me hard, but I think I can work with him for a little while for the greater good. His remorse will never mean a damn thing to me.
What is your relationship with Harrow and Tor really like?
Both of those men are my brothers. Tor is the brother you wished your parents had put up for adoption but since we are stuck with him, we put up with his shit. LOL. No really, I love them both. Harrow is the leader/big brother type. He used to be more free-spirited till he took over Tack, but I think Jordan balances him out well. He can read me better than most. He knows when and what to ask and when to back the hell off. I am not a huge fan on communication, unless it is with Isidora, between sheets and the door locked. Tor, he doesn’t know when to stop but he can usually get my ass back on track. Allison has really not been able to do much with containing that big brute, but I still get a kick out of watching him kiss up when she gives him that look. I used to tell them they are pussy whipped, guess I will have to stop that now. Love does strange things to people. On a serious note though, Harrow, Tor, Rohnert, those three men are heroes to me. They have given up more for the cause than the majority of the population would do for family. We have all lost in the physical aspect of life, our hearts have been destroyed and some of us are still in the dark as to what to do with our lives. The only thing that is certain is that we are family and we will be there for each other as brothers.
So you have found your lover, how does it feel to be with Isidora?
I am sure you would love to know what it is like being with her <wink wink>. I never thought I had a heart to give to a woman but damn that beautiful spitfire I call mine found one inside this lug. She is strong, determined, compassionate and beautiful. I don’t think I have ever been as happy and complete as I am right now especially when I am with her behind locked doors, between the sheets………oh, I already mentioned that huh? And just to set the record straight, she is so much more than my lover, she is my heart, my soul . . . my compass. She keeps my shit on track better than my brothers ever could.
So where do you all at Tack Enterprises see the future heading?
We still have to deal with the enemy; I can’t ever see a day without those fuckers crawling around. The cure needs to be distributed to all of the willing vampires who seek the cure. That is more of keeping Pritchard’s dream alive, we must fulfill that. The kids who are staying with us, we have to figure out how to keep them safe and give them a future. Of course, top priority is keeping our women safe and happy. I guess the only thing in our future that is still murky is Rohnert. I am not sure how you ever get over a loss such as his. I know now that I don’t think I could survive it. We will stand by him and the baby and do what we can but yeah, if I look towards the future—he is what scares the hell out of me most.
